Marie Catherine Laveau Born September 10, 1801 (some have it as 1794) New Orleans Louisiana USA and departed this world June 16, 1881 is buried in a mausoleum in St. Louis Cemetery, New Orleans LA. The illegitimate child of Charles Laveau, a wealthy white planter and Marguerite Darcantrel, a Creole and free person of color, Marie is best known as the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans - the third generation to practice the art.
